Soccer still needs kick-start to nab viewers in U.S.
I have one goal in mind when the World Cup begins Friday. I want to be tuned in when an actual goal is scored. I don't think I've ever seen the ball go into the net in a soccer match. I watched most of the women's World Cup final in 1999. If not for the contrived end-game penalty kicks, I'm convinced the U.S.-China match still would be scoreless in 2002.
